Roger Dale Brown to give Art Talk & Painting Demonstration
Friday, July 3 from 10am to Noon

THOMASTON— Haynes Galleries artist and painter of Maine landscapes Roger Dale Brown will give an artist talk and a live demonstration on Friday, July 3 from 10am to Noon. This special event is in conjunction with Brown’s exhibition at Haynes Galleries, “Roger Dale Brown: Maine Light,” which opens July 2 and runs until August 8. Both the artist talk and exhibition are free and open to the public.

During the art talk, Brown will discuss his travels and painting trips during which he creates numerous studies on location. Brown then uses those studies as well as photographs, notes and videos to create large scale landscapes and seascapes. Brown will talk about how he picks his scenes, what makes for an interesting and engaging composition, and his painting process.

The art talk will be followed by a live demonstration on Haynes Galleries’ manicured grounds, weather permitting. Brown will narrate as he works so guests will see and experience how he captures the Maine light as he paints.

No stranger to Maine, Brown has traveled to the midcoast several times in the last few years to paint the coast’s famous light. This year he is returning to teach a 4 day landscape workshop in Tenant’s Harbor. It begins July 12 and will feature one-on-one instruction and intensive learning on location in some of the most beautiful places in Maine.
