John Runions

American, Born 1974

Born in Battle Creek, Iowa, John Runions began a career in the Navy serving in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of World War II. Afterward, he attended art school in Chicago at the American Academy of Art and began working in the commercial art field.

While travellng the countryside of Buffalo County, Wisconsin, John Runions found his muse: the river and bluffs of the Mississippi. Over the course of 60 years as a fine artist, he created over 3000 paintings of scenic sporting scenes, vistas, still-lives and portraits. He was a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society, garnering prizes and awards nationwide.
